Stump grinding in Spring Hill
— ground deep, cleaned up, ready for sod.

Leftover stump after a tree removal? We grind it 6-12 inches below grade, haul the shavings, fill the hole — and leave your lawn ready for sod, plantings, or pavement.

What's included in stump grinding

Why grind instead of pull?

Pulling a stump with an excavator leaves a massive crater, destroys surrounding lawn and roots, and often takes a full day. Grinding is faster, cleaner, and far less invasive.

A grinder uses a high-speed rotating wheel with carbide teeth to reduce the stump and major roots to mulch. We work below the grade so when we're done, the area is a smooth bowl ready to be filled and planted over.

For most Spring Hill residential properties — Bermuda lawns, sandy soil, surrounded by sprinkler lines — grinding is the only reasonable approach. Pulling is reserved for new-construction sites where we're going to be moving earth anyway.

Pricing

Stump grinding pricing depends mostly on stump diameter at ground level. Most Spring Hill residential stumps fall in the $95-$350 range.

Small stumps (under 12") run $95-$150. Medium stumps (12-24") are typically $150-$250. Large stumps over 24" diameter range $250-$450 depending on root spread and access.

Multiple stumps on the same property get a meaningful discount — we already paid the truck and trailer time to be there. If you have 3+ stumps to grind, ask about the multi-stump rate.

Standard is 6-8 inches below grade. We grind deeper (10-12 inches) if requested or if you're replacing with sod or new plantings. Deeper grinds cost slightly more due to additional time.

Yes by default — but many homeowners actually want to keep the mulch for landscape beds. Just let us know your preference during the estimate.

Most residential stumps are ground in 30-90 minutes. Cleanup adds another 15-30 minutes. We're usually in and out within 2 hours total per stump.

Minimal disruption. The grinder is on a self-propelled track that's easier on grass than a riding mower. We may need a few feet of access path but rarely cause lasting damage.

Absolutely — most of our stump-only jobs are for trees removed years ago. We don't need to have done the original removal.
